CoMissionPrivacy Policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
CoMission ("we", "us") is an app for setting personal missions and inviting friends to follow your progress. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account: your email address (or the identifier Apple or Google provides when you sign in with them), display name, username, avatar, and preferred language.
- Missions and activity: mission titles, descriptions, schedules, rewards ("stakes"), check-ins, notes, milestones, cheers, messages and points.
- Photos you choose as your profile photo, attach to a check-in, or add as a picture of a mission's reward. We only access your camera or photo library when you tap to add a photo.
- Friends: who you are friends with, friend requests you send or receive, which missions you follow or support, and offers to support a friend's mission (who offered, to whom, when, and the answer).
- Push notification token for your device, if you allow notifications.
- Basic technical data needed to run the service: error logs on our servers and crash reports from the app (error message, app version, platform and operating-system version, linked to your account so we can fix it; if sign-in fails, the error code and a short error message with personal details removed).
- App usage: which screens you open, when you open the app, the steps of sign-up and mission creation, invites you share, notifications you tap, and answers to optional in-app questions (for example, why you ended a mission). Each event is stored with your account (or, before you sign in, with a random ID created by the app for this install), the app version and the platform. It never includes the text you write, your photos or your contacts. We use it only to understand and improve CoMission.
- Feature interest: if you tap "Notify me" on a feature marked "Coming soon", we save which feature, when you tapped it, and your app language, linked to your account, so we can let you know when it is available and see how much interest there is. It is kept while your account exists and deleted with it.
- Invite links: when someone opens a CoMission invite link in a browser, we count the visit together with a random ID stored in that browser and the mission the link points to.
- Safety data: reports you send about content or users, and the people you block. Reported content is reviewed by our moderators.
We do not use advertising identifiers, do not show ads, do not track you across other apps or websites, and do not sell your data.
How we use it
- To run the app: show your missions to the friends you choose, count check-ins, calculate checkpoints, points and results.
- To send notifications you've enabled (check-ins, cheers, nudges, results).
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
- To understand how CoMission is used (for example, how many people finish their missions) so we can improve it. This is done by us, inside our own Firebase project; usage data is not shared with analytics or advertising companies.
Who can see your data
Your profile (name, username, avatar, basic stats) is visible to other users so friends can find you. Missions, check-ins, photos and messages are visible only to you and the people you invite to that mission.
Service providers
We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions) to store and process data, Expo to deliver push notifications and app updates, and Apple/Google if you choose to sign in with them. They process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Me → Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, photo, friendships and notifications, the missions you created (with their check-ins, photos, reward pictures and chat), the support offers you sent or received and the messages you wrote in other missions; see Delete account for details. You can also email us to request deletion or a copy of your data. Usage events are kept for up to 13 months; when you delete your account they are separated from you (re-labelled with a random code that can't be linked back to you) and kept only as anonymous statistics.
Children
CoMission is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
